The capital city of Poland will host the first ever 5150 Triathlon Series event this weekend (June 12). The organizing team together with the city authorities talked the race over during the official pre-race press conference.
- The history of triathlon in Warsaw takes us to the mid-80's when the first race was organized. Since then, the discipline has been regularly coming back to Warsaw in different ways but no race has been able to make an impact and force its way to the elite group of events taking place in Warsaw every year. Now, the exciting sport of triathlon is coming back to the Polish capital city in its best shape. Nearly 1000 athletes, a spectacular race course in the city center and the finish at the Theatre Square. It's just a must see! - says Michał Drelich, race director.
5150 Warsaw Triathlon also brings huge promotional potential for the city itself. It is a part of the international 5150 Triathlon Series owned by the World Triathlon Corporation, which also stands for the legendary IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events. This naturally helps to promote the race and the city abroad. The event will be also broadcast in the national TV and streamed live online on www.triathlonpoland.tv.
- Triathlon is getting increasingly popular in Poland and Warsaw is home to the biggest triathlon community in the country. That is why we decided to meet their expectations and give them the opportunity to race in their city, where they can be cheered on by families, neighbours and co-workers. We would also like to encourage our citizens to go out to the streets and support the athletes. This is going to be a perfect warm-up before the first game of the Polish footbal national team at the UEFA EURO 2016 - encourages Jarosław Jóźwiak, Vice President of Warsaw.
