Gdynia Half Marathon 2017 has officially been announced a IAAF Road Race Bronze Label event. The race will take place on March 19. Registration starts Monday, October 24, 2016.
- We are extremely happy to join the elite group of international road races holding a IAAF Road Race Label - says Piotr Jakóbik, Marketing Director at Sport Evolution, race organizer. - Gdynia Half Marathon had a great debut in 2016 with more than 4.100 finishers at the Kosciuszki Square in Gdynia. IAAF Road Race Bronze Label is another step forward to us and we really can't wait for March 19, 2017. But first, we focus strongly to launch registration on October 24 - he adds.
It is not the first international certificate awarded to the Gdynia Half Marathon. The race has also got the European Athletics' Five-Star Quality Road Race certification in September this year.
Registration will be launched on October 24. Sign up form will be available on the brand new Polish online registration platform - SlotMarket.pl. Participation limit is 8.000 athletes and the first 1.000 slots will be sold at a promotional price - 59 PLN. Regular price will be 79 PLN.
Race organizers have also announced that the Gdynia Half Marathon has submitted its application to host the Half Marathon World Championships 2020. First, it needs to be accepted by the Polish National Athletics Association. The decision is expected in November.
